Coatings
EEP is widely used in OEM and refinish automotive coatings, metal and plastic coatings, can & coil, and marine systems. Its slow evaporation and low surface tension improve flow and leveling, reduce solvent popping in baking enamels, and support higher-solids formulations without excessive viscosity. It dissolves acrylic, polyurethane, nitrocellulose, and many alkyd resins efficiently, making it an ideal tail solvent for premium finishes and electrostatic spray systems.
Inks & Printing
In flexo, gravure, and inkjet inks, EEP offers controlled drying, good film formation, and low odor on press. Its strong solvency for acrylic and other binder systems allows high pigment loading with manageable viscosity, improving print definition and reducing defects such as pinholes and mottling. Ball-point and specialty writing inks also leverage EEP where clean, stable, and low-odor solvent systems are required.
Electronics, Optics & Specialty Cleaners
EEP’s high electrical resistance, low water solubility, and smooth film formation make it attractive for photoresists, optoelectronic coatings, and other precision applications in displays and electronics. In industrial cleaners, paint strippers, and specialty degreasers, it provides strong solvency with a more favorable EHS profile than many traditional high-boiling solvents, supporting “eco-friendlier” and low-VOC product lines.
